The pups are currently raw-fed and very curious!
These puppies are “Great Koms” (aka Great Pyrenees/Komondors). The mix is known for its superior guardian instincts/habits and is very common in Eastern Canada. It is one of the only mixes that “cancels” out each breeds negative traits. For example the cross is regarded as one of the more successful guardians due to the Komondors ability to stay close to home, even without impenetrable fencing, and the Komondor quiet persona takes precedence over the Great Pyrenees constant barking. The Great Pyrenees gives this cross a family quality - very friendly towards people they know and lovable. The stubbornness of the Pyr is squashed by the train ability of the Kom. Of course every cross is different and each puppy will develop his or her own personality. We will be evaluating their guarding skills as they grow and will place them depending on their skills/instinct. Parents are AMAZING guardians of sheep, goats, cows, horses and poultry. The dad (Nanook - Komondor) is very quiet and does not escape from sub-par fencing. The mom (Luna - Pyrenees) is a fierce fierce protector but a major love bug to those she knows. She loves to lay in our lap when we sit in the pasture. Pups were born August 12, 2019 so will be ready to go to new homes end of October at the earliest (at our discretion). They will be thoroughly exposed to all kinds of livestock/poultry, monitored by us and trained by their parents. Starting at $800 at 12 weeks.
Please help us understand your situation and what your goals are for your future puppy. This helps us match you with the right dog for your needs. We look at the dogs temperament, personality, skill structure and future purpose when placing it in the right home. Please be mindful that by filling out the application you are not entering into a binding agreement. This is only a preliminary questionnaire. If you would like to reserve a puppy you will be asked to put down a nonrefundable $400 deposit. All puppy buyers receive a contract upon purchase of their puppy, outlining a take-back clause, a sterilization agreement and the transfer of ownership. Contact us today to get your application!

We are looking for eager, outgoing volunteers. You must be outdoorsy to get on well here and of course hardworking. Volunteers should be physically fit. We can accommodate either live-in volunteers or day-to-day volunteers from within our community. Experience in livestock care, fencing, gardening, and hard work is a huge bonus, but the main thing we ask of our volunteers is the ability to do any type of work giving 100% and with a smile. We are fully prepared to teach you and will definitely appreciate a willing to learn attitude. For 2018 work could include building/finishing a new chicken coop and run; fencing new pastures for the animals; daily care of sheep, pigs, goats, chickens, ducks, turkeys, rabbits, dogs, cats, cows, and horses; checking/fixing fences, rock-picking/stick-picking in pastures and pens, attending/helping at petting zoos; setting up and maintaining a garden; help in the house and more! Volunteers will be farming right alongside us. Jobs change daily and we need a volunteer who doesn't mind going with the flow, switching things up, long hours, and some dirt under the finger nails!
After work is done, there may be the opportunity to enjoy a game of horseshoes, a swim in beautiful Bridge Lake, a kayak at a friends nearby resort, or a hike through the forest. Or maybe time to practice your roping skills on our calf dummy, or listen to the guitar around the campfire. Life on the farm isn't easy; there's always work to do, but we find that with teamwork and laughter, any chore can be made fun! "Watching the clock" doesn't work here as we work until the work is done; the animals comes first! In return for your hard work we make sure to immerse you in our local culture, as well as showing you the sites, taking you to events, and offering as fulfilling as an exchange as possible. Bring some spending money because theres a lot of fun stuff to do in our amazing community! Our community is brimming with activity and truly represents the Canadian spirit. We love teaching people about ethical farming practices. We also love teaching people about respect for nature and our environment and enjoy spending as much time outside as possible.
Private room (queen bed) with shared bathroom. Meals will be provided, help in the kitchen/cleanup is required. Breakfast is usually cereal/toast and sometimes some kind of eggs (from our own happy hens), lunch could be soup, salad, sandwiches and/or leftovers from the previous dinner. Dinner is usually well balanced meals comprised of meat, vegetables, and carbs. Sometimes we have pizza and movies ;) If you require anything fancy or believe you may still be hungry after meals or between meals we can bring you along when we go grocery shopping and you can purchase some things for yourself to either keep in your room or we can make you a spot in the pantry/fridge :)
We have many great walking trails and mountain bikes available for volunteers to use. We are also lucky to live beside Bridge Lake, a very popular fishing/boating lake, so visits to the lake are common through the summer. It is a great place to cool off after a day of work on the farm! The best way to get to the farm is to make your way to 100 Mile House via Greyhound Bus from one of the major cities. We can then pick you up from there. Our home is friendly and open and usually brimming with activity. We do not smoke, do drugs or drink excessively and expect the same from our volunteers. As we are at risk of wildfire in our area due to high amount of fuel in the forests we Kindly ask that those who smoke tobacco do not apply. Alcohol is allowed (thought Tyler doesn't drink, Ali will have the occasional glass of wine, and other housemates drink socially), though being responsible and knowing your limits is required. Sloppy drunks need not apply! We appreciate our privacy and know volunteers do as well. We aren't pristine or obsessed with cleaning but we do ask you keep your space tidy and relatively clean during your stay and then clean/wash your sheets before you leave the farm. We also ask that volunteers clean up after themselves in the common areas and help with after-meal cleanup, bathroom wipe-overs, vacuuming etc in their off-time.
We'd love to have you! Contact us right away to see if we are accepting volunteers during the time you are travelling.
